During the celebratory event for the fifteen years of the series, Ubisoft announced Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexea new chapter of the saga which presents itself as “a different game” from the usual, as was also announced by the company, with a teaser trailer from somewhat dark tones.
Marc-Alexis Cote, Ubisoft Quebec executive producer, has announced Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe as the new major title in the series currently in development at Ubisoft Montreal, the team responsible for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as well as the first ever project in the series. Codename Hexe is considered a “flagship” chapter, therefore intended to be an element of primary importancedirected by creative director Clint Hocking.
The teaser is very short and only serves to introduce the particular atmosphere of this new chapter, since it doesn’t show much but it succeeds perfectly in making it clear how the tone of this game is different from the usual.
We see a forest at night and the symbol of the Assassins dangling from the branch of a tree, made of woven sticks.
The idea is that it could be a sort of amulet, similar to the pagan symbols that are attributed to witches. In fact, the word “Hexe” used as a code name really means “witch” in German, so the idea is that Assassin’s Creed: Project Hexe could be set in the era of witch hunts, or in any case it has to do with such references.
Even the kind of pentacle that appears at the end, under the Assassin’s Creed symbol, seems to confirm this reference to occultism and witchcraft, waiting to find out more about it.
