Cyberpunk 2077: problems updating to the latest generation versions in Europe

All Game News

Some European gamers have found many difficulty to update their old generation edition of Cyberpunk 2077 to the next generation, both in the transition from PS4 to PS5, and in that from Xbox One to Xbox Series X and S.

The problem only affects those who have purchased the physical editions of the game. The reason? The regional code of discs is often different from the player’s physical location, so the system does not recognize him as eligible for the new free version, as also specified by the game’s official support page. Basically, if you live in Italy and bought Cyberpunk 2077 in Russia to pay less, you can’t currently upgrade it.

The discrepancy between code and location will make it impossible to access the update from both the Microsoft Store and the PlayStation Store. Of course Sony and Microsoft are not to blame. The option simply does not appear, or you are prompted to to pay.

There are many reports on this, both on Reddit and on Twitter, and we do not know what CD Projekt intends to do about it. The support page already reports the problem, so a solution should come soon, whatever it is.

For the rest, those who bought Cyberpunk 2077 digitally can enjoy the latest generation version on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.
