Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: sales at launch do not satisfy Square Enix

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy apparently at launch it recorded below expectations for Square Enix. However, sales continue to grow over the following months, also thanks to discounts and offers of various kinds, and now the Japanese software house wants the momentum to continue to compensate for the lack of success recorded on the day-one.

The news came from a report published after the last meeting with the shareholders, where the company has seen its revenues increase thanks also to the push of Final Fantasy 14.

“Despite good reviews, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy launch sales were lower than our forecasts,” reads the Square Enix report. “However, the sales initiatives we took in November 2021 and continuing into the new year have led to sales growth and we intend to continue working to continue expanding sales to compensate for the slow start of the game.”
