“One of the reasons we were confident in redesigning everything is that we have so many veterans in the team – many of our developers have been working on the series for ten years or more, some even for twenty years,” Harada explained.
“So everyone has a deep understanding of Tekken, what makes the game great and what the fans love most, but at the same time they know how to avoid the most common mistakes. find the right way to replace some elements with new ones.”
“If you don’t change enough, people will think it’s not really a new game, it’s an update to Tekken 7. If you change too much, you risk eliminating these aspects that people have always loved about the series.”
“So no matter how much experience you have, it’s always very difficult to tackle such a path and no one has a ready answer.”
