Neil Druckmann – co-president of Naughty Dog – e Tom Holland – lead actor – they came together to tell us some details of the new Sony film, Unchartedarriving in Italian cinemas on February 17, 2022. The video was shared via Twitter and you can see it below.

Druckmann explains that he began work on the Uncharted franchise in 2006, when the team was trying to figure out how to create a cinematic blockbuster in videogame format. Holland then adds that in turning the game into a film they realized that it was already very cinematic and therefore already had a starting idea of how the film should have been, but the most difficult part to recreate was “the true heart of the game “.

Holland states that his favorite part is the presence of small puzzles to solve, one of the fundamental characteristics of Nathan Drake’s adventure. Druckmann says the most important part for him was to keep Nathan as human as possible, so that viewers could empathize with him. The co-chairman says he loves the fact that this film is a story of the character’s origins, of him being a bartender with dreams far bigger than his day job. Holland explains that we can truly understand why Drake wants to leave his ordinary life behind and go on an adventure, nothing will be taken for granted.

Holland also admits he was very nervous about meeting the original Nathan Drake, that is Nolan Ramsey North, which supported the actor and helped him “inherit” the role of Nathan. Chloe is also shown, who will be part of the film.

Druckmann also explains that the great thing about the film is that it takes inspiration from the games but there reinterprets. “Fans of the game will be impressed with this original release,” says Holland. The video concludes by recalling the remastered versions of Uncharted 4 and Uncharted The Lost Legacy, part of Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection.
